How do I get started?

Once you walk in, getting started is easy. The first step is to schedule an introductory private lesson, at no charge, to meet with one of our trained instructors. Your instructor will determine your current level and recommend a program for you. Within three-four lessons, you will be feeling more confidence and passion! To schedule now, call 702-876-3131, e-mail us at learn@arthurmurraylasvegas.com, or fill out our online contact form

Can I really learn to dance?

Yes. Dancing is as easy as walking once you are taught by an Arthur Murray expert. We teach simple, basic elements, from which the steps are derived. Hundreds of thousands of people have been successfully trained in Arthur Murray Dance Studios. There is no age limit. Many of the oldest students are over 70. The youngest are actually pre-teens. We have group called 'Arthur's Kids that parents may be interested to know about. They are doing amazing things that help their developement and growth.

How long will it take?

The Arthur Murray Franchised Dance Studios have found that students learn most quickly and effectively on a scholastic basis. At the Introductory level you will be taught the basic steps of the most popular dances today. Your instructor will explain how the levels are taught and help you to plan a personalized program that suits your desires. The length of your course will depend on how many dances you want to learn and how proficient you wish to become in each dance. However, remember you will be able to dance after your FIRST LESSON.

How much do lessons cost?

Tuition varies, depending on a number of factors e.g., how good you want to be, what dances you want to learn, and your dance schedule. Remember - YOUR FIRST LESSON IS FREE. After that lesson, your instructor will recommend a program and will be able to answer any questions, so that you may make an informed choice.

Does the fee have to be paid in advance?

Tuition is generally paid in advance, especially for Foundation Programs. However, monthly and other arrangements are also available. Since these are determined on a case by case basis, please ask in person, and we will be glad to give you all the details.

Will I learn the latest steps?

You can learn the very latest steps in any social dance - Salsa, Swing, Hustle, Samba, Merengue, Fox Trot, Rumba, Cha-Cha, Mambo, Waltz, Tango, and others.

After I learn to dance, will I need more lessons?

After learning to do social dance, you will be able to analyze new steps and pick them up yourself without difficulty. Many students return or continue because they enjoy their lessons and activities and the dancing friends they've acquired. Some continue on to become skilled at advanced techniques and styles.

When can I take lessons?

You can take your lessons afternoons and evenings Monday - Friday, and on Saturday afternoons. You are able to customize your own schedule! Our studio is open Mon-Fri from 1pm-10pm, and Sat 11am-4pm.

Will I have a good teacher?

Yes. All Arthur Murray teachers must complete an arduous training regimen in the exclusive Arthur Murray teaching method, making them very competent. You will have a regular dance teacher who will be resposible for your progress, and opportunities to have exchange lessons with other instructors.

Do I need a partner?

No, you do not need a partner for any Arthur Murray Private, Group, Party or Workshop. We rotate partners in Group activities, and encourage our students to learn to dance with a variety of partners. On your Private Lessons you will dance with your instructor, and you will be able to focus on your personal areas of needed attention. This combination system has proven to be the best way to learn to dance and have fun quickly!

What should I wear?

Dressy Casual for most of our Arthur Murray activities! What you wear on your feet is more important and it is best to not wear 'silly' shoes that are too stiff, high, or floppy (flip flops). For ballroom dancing, shoes should support and stay on your feet, allowing flexibility. There are several local venues that offer ballroom shoes for both men and women, such Cappezio by Boca Park and others on our website. We have annual events that give you the opportunity to dress up, which many find exciting and stimulating! It's wonderful to change "out of the rut" and have an event where we can be different! Excercise classes (Core Rhythms) are more casual, and involve stretching to music, often on the floor. Simply be sure that what you wear is suitable for you!

Should I learn one dance, or several?

At Arthur Murray Franchised Dance Studios, we teach using the Arthur Murray Method. This teaching method involves teaching several different dances at the same time, simply because of what we call the 'Inter-Related Method of teaching dance'. Things you learn in one dance will help the other dances, in a way that enhances learning. You become a more accomplished and confident partner in less time. For some, it is natural to want to learn one thing at a time. However, that does not mean it is the best way to go. Our method is to make learning simpler by building on things you have already learned to make a 'More Complete Dancer'. It works great! And, this has proven to be the best system to learn dancing.

How frequently should I take lessons?

As you begin, we recommend two or three lessons per week to aid in remembering and getting your muscles used to movement and rhythms. It takes time to get warmed up and get into your dance lesson. The closer together the lessons are, the less time it takes to get moving and have fun!

Group Classes or Private Lessons?

For you to learn to be a good dance partner, you will rely on Private Instruction to focus on your individual needs. Our instructors keep up to date records of everything you learn. In Group Lessons you learn steps and get valuable practice dancing with many partners. At Arthur Murray Studios, Group Lessons are a benefit that you do not pay extra for, and we have them Monday - Saturday.
