Every Friday night since August 3rd, students and fans gathered at the Las Vegas Arthur Murray Dance Studios for an exciting "Dancing with the Stars" styled contest, which started with eight amateur couples. The program began on Friday, August 3 with more than 100 people gathering at the Arthur Murray Studio West to watch the dancers compete through several rounds of dances.
"We thought it would be fun to have 8 beginning students who have just gotten the dancing bug being judged by advanced level students, and the excitement and enthusiasm between the dancers and the judges was incredible," said Greg Darrough, who owns both East and West Arthur Murray Studios. "Winners were announced at the studios on Monday nights, and the remaining dance couples spent the next week just like the "Dancing with the Stars" couples, practicing and getting ready for their next competition."
The grand finale was held on Saturday September 22 at the Arthur Murray Dance Studio West and was a part of the "Dancing With The Las Vegas Stars" Showcase event. The winners were Lesley Pena and her teacher Trenton McAffee. They won a mirror ball trophy and two tickets to the "Dancing With The Stars" in Hollywood, California. The runners-up were Kelly Nelson & Adam Stuckey and they also received two tickets to the "Dancing with the Stars" show in Hollywood, California.
