HULARAMA DANCE-O-RAMA, HYATT REGENCY, KAUAI, HAWAII – January 9th -13th 2008 – Our “LAS VEGAS TEAM” has returned with a trophy for 3rd place in our division of 11 schools!!! CONGRATULATIONS to all of our Dancers and Teachers!
Lisa Evans, Cynthia Kestler, Lorena Singer, Lance Spindler, Allison Smith, Trent McAffee Justin McClendon, & Greg Darrough. Our Future Champions Pro Competitors, Allison & Justin took 3rd Place in the Smooth Dance Competition and 5th Place in Rhythm Dance Competition. We had over 140 entries between the 4 students. Lisa received the award for “Top Student” in the Ladies Full Bronze Category!

Nick Kosovich – Monday-Tuesday, March 31st – April 1st. Nick will be teaching more tips on “Actions in Dancing”; Traveling, Turning, Bending, Twisting, Stretching and Contracting. “W-E-S-T” means Weight (Heavy or Light), Energy (Bound or Free), Space (Direct or Flexible), Time (Sustained or Rapid). Ask your Teachers in your next lesson to review these tips with you.
“MADS CLUB”, Murray After Dark Social Club is an Out on the Town Evening with your Teachers and Friends. It is held the first Wednesday of every month at 9:30pm at a designated local Lounge location. Ask your Teachers how to join MADS Club and get ready to dance the night away. This month we danced in the “Eyecandy” Center Lounge located at Mandalay Bay.
GROUP CLASSES WEST – M-F 6:45pm – Our Group Classes are fantastic! Come and join Xiaoqian, aka “JC” Wiltshire, our Dance Director at the Durango location. Monday through Friday she conducts a group class on one particular dance of the week. Class begins at 6:45pm. Saturday at 12:15, Greg conducts a “Technique” Group Class on the same weekly dance. Check the Calendar for the weekly dances. This Month: C&W, Rumba, Tango, Bolero and Foxtrot.
GROUP CLASSES EAST – M-F 7:30pm – Come and join Adam Stuckey, our Dance Director at the Maryland Parkway location. Monday through Friday he conducts a group class on a different dance every day. Saturday at 1:00pm there is an additional class. Check the Calendar for specific classes. Every Month there is Social Salsa on Wednesdays. This Month: C&W, Hustle, Argentine Tango, Cha-Cha, Bolero, Rumba, Lindy, Waltz, Tango, Merenge, Swing, Viennese Waltz, Foxtrot, 2 Step, WC Swing, Quickstep, Intro to Peabody and Samba.

DANCING WITH THE STARS TOUR was in Las Vegas December 30th at the Orleans Arena. Over 90 students, instructors, and family members arrived at the Orleans for this event! We were not disappointed as great performances were performed by Mark Ballas, Cheryl Burke, Alek Mazo, Derek Hough, Edyta Sliwinska, and many more. 10 of our students danced on stage in a competition sponsored by Soft Scrub. Two finalist couples were chosen Lindsay Dunlap and Mike Smith; Jonathan Green and Lexi Hamill; The winners were Lindsay and Mike!
DANCING WITH THE LAS VEGAS STARS, Season 2 begins in our studios Friday, January 18th. Seven Bronze 3 and 4 students from both Studios will be featured dancing with their teachers in a competition each Friday night until March 14th. Check the Calendar each week for the location of the DWTS Party, we will be alternating between the Studios. Every Monday at the Durango Practice Party we will be announcing the Results and eliminating one couple. The winner and runner up of Season 1; Lesley Pena and Kelly Nelson received tickets to see the live show of DANCING WITH THE STARS in Hollywood, California. Come and vote for your favorite couple! This season’s dancers are: Lindsay Dunlap and Adam Stuckey, Lisa Evans and Trent McAffee, Brandy Hartman and Justin McClendon, Lexi Hamill and Jonathan Green, Chris Sutton and Diamahn White, Juan Chavarin and Nova Holy, Jim Frasure and Valerie Green. Our Adjudicators: Tim Homerding, Louise Totten, Ray Haldeman and Denise Giancola.
ARGENTINE TANGO MILONGAS & TANGO WORKSHOPS. Ven a Bailar el “Tango del Corazon” or shall we say “Come Dance the “Tango of the Heart”. Hugo Latorre & Miriam Gittelman are from Argentina. They have been hosting Argentine Tango Milongas (Dance parties) at our Durango studio on the third Saturday of every month at 9:30PM. Their weekly Workshop is on Thursday evenings at 8:15pm at the Durango Studio. Tom & Tanya Smith are also hosting Milongas at the Maryland Parkway Studio on specified Saturday evenings at 10:00PM. Check the Calendar each month for dates. This is a great introduction to one of the most romantic dances. All events are $15.00.

PROFESSIONAL TRAINING SEMINAR: February 2nd & 3rd – HYATT REGENCY, IRVINE, CALIFORNIA
12 members of the Las Vegas Arthur Murray staff and management will travel to Irvine, California to attend Arthur Murray Professional Seminars. Current Events and the most Recent Dance Styles will be presented by nationally acclaimed Champion, Joe Howard.

Holly Udy-Meekin of Arthur Murray Phoenix, Arizona comes to our Studio for Staff Certification Testing. This is a semi-annual event in our Studios as our teachers continue their professional testing regimen. |
“SHALL WE DANCE” STUDENT SHOWCASE EVENT - Don’t miss it! Showcase begins 2-6pm on Saturday, February 23rd at the Durango location followed by our awards dinner. This is our Student Showcase. We have over 100 Student Dance Routines for this Showcase! All of our instructors have been choreographing special routines for each student to showcase their individual talents. VICKI VENKA, will be our visiting adjudicator for the Showcase. There will be awards for Top Categories such as Best Amateur Couple; Best Costume; Most Original Routine; Top Male and Female in categories Newcomer through Gold Bar; Top Instructors which is based strictly off of the scores of their students. The teachers are not being judged by their own ability, but on the progress of their students. Advance purchase is required. Please see our Receptionists, Keli and Melissa for all ticket purchases and event details Guest Tickets for the afternoon showcase are $15.00, seating is limited to 40. The event is open to the public. Students entering in the Showcase will be charged an Entry Fee of $75.00 per student and $15.00 per dance. A Video of the Showcase will be taken. DVD’s are $15.00 and must be ordered prior to Showcase.
